| Part II: Covering the Campaign – Cable's Impact on Presidential Politics Cable programming and communications execs talk about their organizations' approach to the 2008 presidential campaign. While traditional election news reporting still floods the airwaves, what's the impact of new technology and platforms including the Internet, VOD, mobile devices and others? Local coverage of candidates can have national implications as news, advertisements, sound bites, and back stage events can be instantly transmitted to individuals or to a global audience digitally. From a communications standpoint, how is the availability of multi platform coverage of the election changing the game for the candidates, the electorate and the news organizations covering the process? Is the consumer actually using these new media platforms? Are these changes helpful or harmful for voters? Our panel will look at these issues and more as they discuss cable's role and technology in the 2008 campaign. Moderator: Speakers: |
