Communications Institute

The Association of Cable Communicators in cooperation with the Syracuse University Newhouse School of Public Communications held the Cable Communications Institute in New York City at Syracuse University’s Lublin House on March 2-4, 2009. The Cable Communications Institute is a graduate level intense learning experience designed for mid to senior level communications executives who would like to move their knowledge and careers to the next stage.

The Institute featured 11 different speakers invited by the school of public communications to present on topics such as the evolving role of the corporate communications officer, change management, communications law, new media, and measuring the effect of communications efforts. Lively discussion and participation were characteristic of the sessions, with attendees frequently providing feedback and asking questions.

Keynote from 2009 ACC Communications Institute
During ACC’s Cable Communications Institute on March 3, 2009, Meredith Wagner, Executive Vice President, Public Affairs & Corporate Communications, Lifetime Networks, discussed what to keep in mind when faced with a crisis communications situation. She explored how it can constantly evolve in the 24 hour/5 minute news cycle and other considerations, issues, and appropriate responses. Her address took place in Syracuse University’s (ACC’s academic partner) New York City facility Lubin House, where 18 ACC members participated in the 2.5 day program.
